Blog Post Week 2 Part B

 Starbucks

https://www.starbucks.com/

Starbucks is a massive international company that sells coffee, tea, other drinks, and food.  Starbucks focuses on quality and atmosphere inside their cafes to keep customers coming back.  Starbucks uses almost every popular social media including Twitter, Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Spotify to broadcast their business to customers.  They are very active on every single social media having posted at least once in the last day, these posts all go out to hundreds of thousands of people on each platform and millions on Twitter alone.  Starbucks also interacts constantly with people whether they were tagged or not on Twitter and that shows that the person in charge of the social media is paying very close attention to everything Starbucks on Twitter.

Barnes & Noble

Barnes & Noble sells books from all different genres mainly but they have started to carry more toys, music, and small gift type items in recent years.  They seem to have three active social media sites they use including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram that are used very frequently. The accounts also all interact with people whether tagged or not which is very good from a customers point of view.  Barnes & Noble also has a large number of engagements due to having so many followers across all the sites as a whole.

Crunchyroll

https://www.crunchyroll.com/

Crunchyroll is an anime streaming site that also distributes merchandise and manga to countries outside of Japan where it is more difficult to acquire.  On the Crunchyroll website there is a Facebook and Twitter link on the bottom and nothing else, however, after looking there is also an Instagram account that is used as well.  All three of these account have millions of followers and are posted on regularly.  On top of posting frequently the accounts also interact with people as well.

Nintendo

https://www.nintendo.com/

Nintendo utilizes four different social media’s including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.  All of these platforms have very recent posts to millions of followers on each.  Nintendo does however take a more corporate approach to any problems that come up and usually will use robot like responses.  They do still interact with the community just not as often as other similar companies do.

Atlus

https://atlus.com/

Atlus being a video game company needs to have strong social media presence.  They have Facebook, Twitch, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube at the very top of their website as well as a blog on the site.  They regularly post content to all the sites regarding the games they have out or any other news from the company.  User interaction seems relatively low though as they are a Japanese company with a large American and english speaking audience, so while there is some interaction it is just minimal.

After looking through all these companies and their respective social media accounts it has shown how necessary and how beneficial they are.  All the companies have millions of followers across their socials and because of that they need to maintain a public image as well as customer relations.  The bigger the company the less personal these customer relations are and customer views will usually shift to reflect this change.  Customer views and opinions are just as essential to the company as the social media itself,  if a company does not acknowledge a bad situation on social media people will question it and realize it is only there as marketing and nothing else.

When designing and creating a business within in the past few years as well as anytime in the future social media and an online presence is needed to be successful.  With the rise of online shopping and marketing businesses are going completely digital, due to this, a website and social media that is updated and monitored daily will not only help the business but the customers as well.  Having every social media is not always the best though as it can be too much and a bit unnecessary, so having a good balance of usability and functionality would be great for a business that is in the beginning stages still.
